    When I try to edit the template options text in wordpress 3.1.1 Better WordPress recent comments does not save the text I enter correctly. When i try to reset it to the original text in the template it doesn’t save.

    How do I fix this? Happens on multiple installations of Better WordPress recent comments

      Hi Mike,

      Thanks for the bug report, this does not have anything to do with Multi-site, though (luckily). You don’t have to fix it, because I will have to ;).

      About the reset button, when you reset a template you will have to press Save changes again to save it, this is intended behaviour because that allows you to compare the templates. Do you think it is not ideal?

      Anyway, 1.0.1 with various bug fixes should be on its way now :).

        Well the issue is that when I press save it isn’t saving my changes and that even when I reset to defaults it isn’t saving those changes.

        Have you been able to reproduce that? Thank you for answering me so quickly btw.

          Yes I have, and I have also made version 1.0.1 available, too! Have you updated? Various bugs were fixed, including what you found. Enjoy Mike!

    Hi

    Great plugin, but I found a bug with the widget not displaying localised titles for the links back to the comment (hope that makes sense). Simple fix in class-bwp-recent-comments.php, by adding a “__( )” around “$commentdata['post_title']“. Modified line of code below:

    $comment['post_title_attr'] = sprintf('%s %s', ucfirst($commentdata['comment_type'] . $comment_on), esc_attr(__($commentdata['post_title'])));

    Hope you find the feedback useful,

    Sandy

    I thought I should add, although my site is currently only in English, it is set up to be multilingual, which is how I noticed the bug in the first place.

      Hi Sandy, thanks for your contribution!

      It is not a bug actually, but I will of course make it more compatible with such multilingual blog. Btw, what plugin are you using to make your blog multilingual? And is there any other portion that needs localizing?

    The multilingual plugin I am using is qTranslate. Any multilingual output has to go through __() otherwise it comes out like this:

    english textgerman text

    The site is only partially localised at present, so I haven’t really done any testing in anything other than English. I would think that the “Comment on” part of the link will have to be localised.

    Thanks again for a neat plugin.

      Isn’t “Comment on” already in __()? From line 592:

      $comment_on = ($commentdata['comment_type'] == '') ? __('Comment on', 'bwp-rc') : __(' to', 'bwp-rc');.

      Okay I will fix this soon when I have time.

        Thanks for pointing that out – if I need to I can fix it myself on that line of code.

        Cheers

    Love it, but one suggestion: include an option to trim post titles (%post_title%) to x number of characters just as you can trim comments to x number of words.

    Great plugin

    %post_link% does not seem to work with href. Is there a way to link to the post, rather than the comment?

      Hi Lisa,

      Yes that seems to be a bug, I will get it fixed in the next version :).
